NASCAR on Monday postponed five more races due to the coronavirus outbreak but said it still intends to reschedule them and run all 36 events on its calendar. The postponements bring to seven the number races cancelled, following last Sunday's race in Atlanta and this Sunday's stop in Homestead, Florida.

After the postponement of five more races on Monday, NASCAR hopes to resume racing on May 3 in Martinsville, Virginia. “In accordance with recent CDC guidance, NASCAR is currently postponing all race events through May 3rd, with plans to return racing in Martinsville,” NASCAR said in a statement. The health and safety of the racing community is its most important priority, the motor-racing body added.

An official statement by the motor-racing body NASCAR stated that it is hopeful of holding all 36 races this season. On Monday, it postponed five more races due to coronavirus concerns. The statement further mentioned that the motor-body is closely monitoring the situation and is soon going to take a decision on the rescheduling of races.
