AUTOLOGOUS STEM CELL THERAPY AND PLATELET RICH PLASMA OVERVIEW

Orthopaedic conditions can arise in almost anyone, of any age, due to various conditions. Some of these are genetic, while others are caused by accidents, injuries, overuse, or mechanical imbalances in musculoskeletal structures.

Some of the most common musculoskeletal injuries that people face all around the world are:

  • torn or strained tendons, ligaments, meniscus, cartilage, and muscle
  • degenerated joints
  • annular tear, degenerative vertebral (spinal) discs, etc.
  • pain management for chronic pain
  • fractures

These conditions take a heavy toll on patients, limiting their movements and reducing or impacting their ability to do simple, daily tasks. To add to this, there is a widespread increase in accidents and sports injuries afflicting younger people, which is a major cause of concern. These global issues have generated a considerable amount of interest in autologous stem cell orthopaedic treatments. Through our partnership with RegenOrthoSport, Meditourz is proud to offer you access to top specialists and technicians in the field who have already performed more than 95,000 patented Regenexx procedures for patients from all over the world.

HOW DOES AUTOLOGOUS STEM CELL THERAPY HELP FOR ORTHOPAEDICS TREATMENT?

Autologous Stem Cell Therapy, also known as regenerative medicine, has seen rapid growth and acceptance as a promising and effective method for treating a multitude of acute and chronic orthopaedic ailments.
Regenexx is one of the world’s most advanced autologous stem cell and blood platelet procedures for orthopaedic conditions. RegenOrthoSport (Regenexx India) clinic and its experts are currently leading the regenerative medicine domain in India. Regenexx offers a viable alternative for patients with chronic pain and for those who are considering non-surgical treatment options for many orthopaedic conditions.

HOW DO REGENEXX PROCEDURES WORK?

Regenexx was the first orthopaedic treatment center to use autologous stem cells to treat orthopaedic injuries. Their experts have published roughly half of all research done worldwide on the use of autologous stem cells in orthopaedic. The procedures work as follows:

  • The patented, research-driven procedures are done using Autologous Stem Cell Therapy.
  • A high concentration of your own stem cells are precisely delivered into the injured area, which improves your body's ability to heal naturally.
  • Patients experience very little discomfort during this procedure.
  • Also, typically, you can avoid the long, painful rehabilitation periods that often follow surgery to restore musculoskeletal strength and mobility.

WHAT ARE THE AREAS TREATED?

  • ELBOW

  • FOOT & ANKLE

  • KNEE

  • HAND & WRIST

  • SHOULDER

  • HIP

  • SPINE

REGENEXX PATENTED PROCEDURES

  • Regenexx-SD Procedure (joints, ligaments, meniscus, cartilage, tendon, and muscle)
  • Regenexx- Bone Augmentation (AVN of hips and other bones)
  • Regenexx PL-Disc Procedure (for disc and spine)
  • Regenexx-SCP Procedure (PRP)

WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) THERAPY?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a non-surgical blood platelet treatment that is typically used to treat:

  • muscle and tendon strains and minor tears
  • ligament strain and tears
  • minor arthritis
  • joint maintenance
  • mild inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions

In addition to autologous stem cell therapy, PRP treatments are effective because platelets have a stimulating effect on the stem cells within the targeted area, enabling these powerful cells to work harder and faster to repair damaged tissue.

Regenexx Super Concentrated platelets is an advanced PRP injection commonly used in less severe injuries and orthopaedics conditions, and costs less than autologous stem cell procedures. The injections contain healing growth components that increase the body's natural ability to repair itself.

WHAT IS THE SAME DAY AUTOLOGOUS STEM CELL PROTOCOL?

At RegenOrthoSport, the Same-Day Autologous Stem Cell Protocol is the most important and signature feature of orthopaedics treatments. During this, the patient's own autologous stem cells are collected and re-injected on the same day.

HOW DOES THIS PROCEDURE WORK?

On the day of the autologous stem cell procedure, there are 3 steps:

  1. The doctor will first do the procedure called bone marrow aspiration under local anaesthesia.
  2. The autologous stem cells are separated/concentrated from the bone marrow collected.
  3. The separated autologous stem cells and growth factors are then transplanted into the target area through an injection.

When you are prepared for the initial step of your autologous stem cell procedure, your doctor will numb the back of your hip and take an adequate amount of bone marrow through an injection. This process is called a bone marrow aspiration done under local anaesthesia.

After a while, you will be prepared for the second step of the procedure, which works as follows:

  • The physician will reinject the extracted autologous stem cells and platelets from the bone marrow directly into the affected area.
  • This is done with the help of advanced imaging guidance (real-time fluoroscopy or musculoskeletal ultrasound, using your MRI or X-ray to plan the injection). This allows your doctor to pinpoint the exact location of the injection.
  • After the injection, the part or the area treated is supported with a brace or supportive padding as needed.

The aim is to deliver a much higher number of autologous stem cells to the injured area and then to allow the body to start the healing process on its own. Many patients have seen hugely successful recoveries after undergoing this procedure.

Doctors at RegenOrthoSport set comprehensive treatment protocols based on each patient's unique criteria.

These may include:

Day 1: Pre injection – Artificial inflammation is created in the affected area to activate the body's repair mechanisms.
Day 2: Bone marrow aspiration and reinjection of autologous stem cells into the target area is completed.
Day 3: Post injection of PRP is performed.
