Covid-19 / Effect on Ride-hailing Services

2020 was a year that saw unprecedented change within every industry, but the ride-hailing and car service industry were particularly effected. Chauffeur driver jobs in London were not spared either. After London imposed its strictest lockdown in December, ride-hailing across the city was put on an indefinite pause. 

Whilst there have been occasional periods that saw restrictions lift slightly, the impact that the virus has had on society is extensive. More and more people have made the permanent move to shopping online, while workplaces are seeing the benefits of working from home for a significant period of the week.

But here at Wystle we remain hopeful. Not only because we know that our service is not something that can be replaced, but because we believe that the move to virtual and online will not replace the need and want for physical experiences. If anything, we predict a greater steer towards physical experiences following a year of online calls and what is being referred to as ‘Zoom fatigue’; the desire for personal interaction is greater than ever. Restaurants, bars, and other retail services will always have more to gain with a high street presence and as long as people continue to see each other in person, Wystle will be there.

We’re busy working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we’re ready for the upcoming roadmap out of lockdown that will see individuals reunite and society starting to ease back into normality.
